Product Description

Protect your surfaces while bringing timeless Portuguese artistry into your home with this Hand Painted Portuguese Ceramic Tile Trivet in Green. Inspired by the historic azulejos that have adorned Portugal since the 16th century, this piece reflects the rich Moorish and Spanish influences that shaped traditional tile design.

Each trivet is handmade and hand-painted in Caldas da Rainha by renowned artisans Amélia and José Sá Nogueira, whose work is trusted by museums and palaces across Portugal. Using time-honored techniques, they create vibrant embossed patterns that honor the authenticity of historic designs while offering practical use for modern homes.

Built from durable ceramic, this trivet provides reliable heat protection for granite countertops, wood tables, and kitchen surfaces. Whether you're serving hot dishes at the table or placing cookware straight from the oven, it offers both safety and style.

Beyond functionality, this piece doubles as a decorative accent. Use it as a coffee table base, plant holder, small serving platter, or bathroom organizer—adding character and cultural depth to any space.

Because each trivet is handcrafted, no two pieces are exactly alike. These subtle variations are a mark of true artisan work, making every piece unique and collectible.

Whether for your own home or as a thoughtful gift from Portugal, this trivet delivers a balance of tradition, craftsmanship, and everyday practicality.

Handmade Tiles

keeping tradition alive

Tiles are a fixture of culture and design in many parts of Portugal, and you will even find them on famous buildings like the São Bento Railway Station in Porto.

Even though tiles are originally from Egypt, they were first brought to Portugal by the Arabs, in the 13th century. However, it was in the XVI century that King D. Manuel really introduced the azulejos to Portugal. They were imported from Seville after the King’s visit to Spain. It is said that he was so enchanted by these tiles, that he had to bring some to decorate the National Palace of Sintra.

We Are Portugal proudly partnered with one of the most recognized contemporary artists, that keep producing this unique form of art, using the same techniques of the XVI century and bring them to you.
