Product Description

Enhance your kitchen and dining experience with the Hand-Painted Portuguese Ceramic Tile Round Trivet. This sturdy and elegant trivet is crafted to protect your precious granite countertops and hardwood tables from scratches and heat damage. Inspired by the traditional Azulejos, or Portuguese ceramic tiles, these trivets are artistic reproductions of authentic Moorish and Spanish designs, reminiscent of the very first azulejos found in Portugal in the 16th century.

Each trivet is meticulously handmade and hand-painted by Amélia and José Sá Nogueira, a couple of dedicated artisans renowned for their exceptional ceramic work for museums and palaces throughout Portugal. Their small workshop in Caldas da Rainha produces these unique pieces using time-honored techniques, ensuring every trivet respects the historic colors and patterns that have been cherished for centuries.

This versatile trivet can be placed on your dining table to serve hot and cold dishes, or it can be used for decorative purposes as a coffee table platter, bathroom organizer, or plant holder. Its vibrant and colorful embossed decoration is hand-painted, adding a touch of Portuguese culture and artistry to any setting.

Bring a piece of Portuguese heritage into your home with this exquisite Hand-Painted Portuguese Ceramic Tile Round Trivet. Order now to add a touch of tradition and elegance to your kitchen or dining area, or gift it to a loved one as a symbol of timeless beauty and cultural richness.

Handmade Tiles

keeping tradition alive

Tiles are a fixture of culture and design in many parts of Portugal, and you will even find them on famous buildings like the São Bento Railway Station in Porto.

Even though tiles are originally from Egypt, they were first brought to Portugal by the Arabs, in the 13th century. However, it was in the XVI century that King D. Manuel really introduced the azulejos to Portugal. They were imported from Seville after the King’s visit to Spain. It is said that he was so enchanted by these tiles, that he had to bring some to decorate the National Palace of Sintra.

We Are Portugal proudly partnered with one of the most recognized contemporary artists, that keep producing this unique form of art, using the same techniques of the XVI century and bring them to you.
