Alentejo Pottery
The village of Redondo, located in the heart of Central Alentejo, in the south of Portugal, is a municipality that for more than 700 years has been connected to clay and pottery, producing earthenware with excellent refractory properties.
Redondo pottery has a very characteristic tableware, known for its polychrome decoration, with simple, floral, geometric or abstract motifs in a unique combination that reinforced this village as a one of the main pottery centers in Alentejo.
Once, there were 40 potteries in Redondo, currently only 6 remain active preserving this ancient art.
