GROWN FROM NATURE
Portugal produces about half the world output of commercial cork. So every year, from Mid May to Mid August, as you ride through the Alentejo and Algarve regions, you will find well-trained seasonal harvesters removing the bark from the oak trees. Each tree is harvested only once every 9-12 years. Completely renewable and sustainable, harvesting bark does not harm the tree. Each time bark is harvested it regenerates itself and in doing so absorbs CO2.
